Sidewalk repair doesn't discourage business owners

There could be some trouble for a few Evansville downtown businesses.

The city is moving forward with a massive sidewalk replacement project on main street that will close blocks at a time.

Thursday, city engineers answered questions from concerned businesses.

Owner of Piece of Cake on Main Street, Cate Sisco, just learned about the sidewalk replacement in the week.

"It's very concerning on whether our customers will be able to drive down Main St. Will they be able to walk into our shop and how will they get to us?"

Traffic changes coming to Downtown Evansville

Traffic changes coming to Downtown Evansville

Traffic in downtown Evansville will be changing soon.

On Thursday, new traffic signals were installed at Main and Riverside Drive, and Riverside Drive and Walnut.

When they're turned on, drivers will be able to make left turns into downtown. The work along Riverside is nearing completion, but these lights will not go online until September 6th.

Right now the second part of that contract, which involves the reversal of Main Street, is still in the works.
