New restaurant opens in Old National Bank

A new restaurant is open in downtown Evansville.

Riverfront Grill opened on Thursday in Old National Bank taking the place of the Firefly Restaurant that recently closed.

Jeff Wright is the owner, and he tells 14 News that they'll serve southern style food that appeals to Evansville residents. His father owns Grand Traverse Pie Company on Evansville's east side

Upgrade Campaign partners with Twilight Bistro and Market to offer fresh produce

Twilight Bistro in downtown Evansville will offer fresh produce beginning today.  The restaurant and market, located on Main St., is partnering with Welborn Baptist Foundation.

 “The benefits of eating fresh fruits and vegetables are well documented”, explains Kevin Bain, Executive Director and CEO of the Welborn Baptist Foundation. “By making fresh produce readily available in new locations, the Upgrade Campaign hopes to deliver those benefits to more and more Tri-State residents.”

The owners of Twilight Bistro say with more people moving to Downtown Evansville, the need for a market where fresh produce could be purchased was evident.

Edwin McCain to perform at new downtown Evansville bar

Singer Edwin McCain is set to perform at Back Stage Bar & Grill in downtown Evansville next month.  Nick Byers, Managing Partner at Back Stage, says McCain will take the stage inside the restaurant on April 27th.  Doors will open at 6pm.  Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.

Back Stage Bar & Grill is still under construction.  It's set to open Thursday, April 19.  It's located at 524 Main Street across from the Ford Center.

Casino Aztar has hired James Weflen as the new Executive Chef for the Evansville casino property.

A graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Chef Weflen comes to Casino Aztar from the Disney Coronado Springs Resort & Convention Center where he was directly responsible for five food outlets, including an upscale regional restaurant, a short order café, an action station ala carte buffet, a staff cafeteria, a pool bar kitchen, an upscale lounge, and in-room dining for a 2,000-room convention hotel. Chef Weflen led five Sous-chefs and 60 frontline employees in this operation.

Bagger Dave's coming to Evansville

Bagger Dave’s Legendary Burger Tavern, described by the company as "a unique, full-service, ultra-casual restaurant and bar concept", will be opening a restaurant in Evansville.

Based in Michigan where they currently have six corporately-owned locations, the company plans to open their first franchised location in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in March 2012. It's the first of six locations set to open over the next five years by business partners Bill Zellmer and Lonnie Griggs. Zellmer and Griggs currently operate six area-Buffalo Wild Wings (BWW) restaurants together.
