Congressman holding office hours in Evansville Tuesday

Congressman Larry Bucshon (R-IN) will hold Office Hours in the Evansville District on Tuesday, February 19 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The office is located at  101 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Room 124, Evansville.

Appointments will be scheduled in 15 minute increments on a first come, first served basis and can be arranged by calling Erin Pugh at (812) 232-0523.

Meet area legislators next weekend at library

A ‘Meet Your Legislators’ public forum to discuss the Indiana General Assembly's 2013 legislative session will be held on Saturday December 8 at Central Library in Browning Room.  Doors open at 9:00 am.

The meeting will start at 9:15 & conclude at 11:00.   All Vanderburgh County and southwestern Indiana residents are encouraged to attend.  Future meetings will be held on second Saturdays of each month (January 12, February  9, March 9, & April 13).

Heart attack delays early voting at Elections Office

Early voting at the Civic Center is delayed this morning after a voter reportedly suffered a heart attack inside the Elections Office.  It happened about 10:30.  Sheriff's deputies asked the long line of voters to move to one side while emergency crews treated the victim.  An elections office worker says County Clerk Susan Kirk is reviewing the situation.  Early voting is set to end at noon.

Lines had already formed early Monday, prior to the medical situation.

Gail Riecken, State Representative, District 77, will hold 4 Town Hall Meetings in Evansville to discuss Jobs, I 69 and the Ohio River.   One of those meetings takes place this Saturday, Sept.15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church at 1800 S. Governor St.

Another is set for Sept. 29 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church (701 Oak Street).

These meetings are public and attendees will be provided an opportunity for comments or questions about state government.

Voters interested in casting their ballot for the upcoming primary election can do so at the Election office at 1 NW M L King Blvd # 214 from 8 to 4 p.m. daily and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can also vote at Central Library from noon until 6 p.m. beginning April 30 and ending on May 3.

The election takes place Tuesday, May 8.

Local state legislators are available to answer questions regarding state bills and issues on Friday, February 25 beginning at  9:15 am in the Browning Events Room at Central Library.

Inaugural celebration planned for mayor

As Mayor Winnecke begins his first term in office the Friends of Mayor Winnecke are holding an Inaugural Celebration on Friday, January 27 at the Old Post Office at 200 NW 2nd Street.  The event will begin at 6:00pm with a reception and music by After Hours, followed by a dinner at 7:30pm. After dinner music will be provided by the Pits.

In honor of Evansville’s Bicentennial celebration characters (portrayed by actors from Civic Theatre) from Evansville’s historic past will make appearances throughout the night.
