As Veterans Parkway is reopening on Friday, Riverside Drive closes until Saturday

Veterans Memorial Parkway could reopen to traffic as soon as Friday, but then Evansville's Riverside Drive will close.

Leaders from Indiana and Kentucky are working together on plans for an I-69 bridge between the two states.

Memorial Day observed aboard LST 325

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Memorial Day was observed aboard LST 325 on Evansville's riverfront. 

The ship is a floating museum of World War II history. The landing ship tank carried troops 
and cargo to beach heads in both the European and Pacific theatres of war. 167 LST's were built at the Evansville Shipyard.
90-year-old WWII veteran and LST tour guide Bob Cerling told visitors about the importance of these ship in the war effort.

Two moped riders hurt in traffic accident

Two moped riders hurt in traffic accident

Two moped riders were hurt after crashing into a car Monday afternoon in Evansville.

Police said the car was turning left onto Fares Avenue from Riverside Drive when it hit the moped.

The driver of the car was not seriously hurt, but we're told the two people on the moped both have some broken bones.

All EVPL locations closed Monday for Memorial Day

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- If you're looking for a good book to read over the holiday weekend, make sure you visit the library before Monday. 

Libraries officials say all eight Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library locations will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. 

However, access EVPL information and download eBooks, audiobooks, and online magazines anytime at evpl.org.

Three new businesses in Downtown Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Three new businesses are moving into Downtown Evansville,  in hopes of cashing in on the area's revitalization.

The newest bar, Babel, has a swanky, sophisticated atmosphere.

Owners say before 10:00 p.m. the restaurant will be open to everyone and after 10:00 p.m., it's 21 years of age and up.

Co-owner Aaron Kiefer says they're targeting mid-20s to mid-30s. Couches replace traditional dining tables.
