A special sculpture representing Evansville is in place and now on display.

Mayor finds several over-payments to vendors on Ford Center project

The mayor has announced the findings of a state-conducted financial audit of the Ford Center construction project and the review found several over-payments to vendors over the life of the project.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke made that announcement in his office Friday afternoon. He says they suspected some discrepancies about a year ago, and that was when he instructed the city controlled to ask the Indiana State Board of Accounts to conduct the audit.

Evansville man accused of being drunk when throwing gun in Ohio River

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- An Evansville man was arrested after throwing a gun into the Ohio River.

EPD is questioning 43-year-old Robert C. Williams
after police say he threw a loaded gun into the Ohio River.

Officers found Williams intoxicated in the lower portion of Dress Plaza just
after midnight on Friday.

The Plaza is closed after 11:00pm.

As officers tried to identify him, Williams pulled a .357 revolver from under
his leg and threw it into the river.

Officers handcuffed Williams and then
recovered the gun from the river.

EXCLUSIVE: City consultant accused of not working but getting paid

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-

A consultant hired by the Evansville City Council is accused of not doing the work he was hired to do while still collecting a monthly paycheck. 

An audit last year found some issues with the city's finances. So, the city council hired David Garrett to serve as an extra set of eyes. His contract requires that he report to the council on a monthly basis.  

New sandwich option for Downtown Evansville diners

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- There will soon be a new location for a longtime Evansville sandwich shop.

The folks at HoneyBaked Ham have announced on their Facebook page they are about to open a HoneyBaked Ham Express in downtown Evansville.

They say the new place will be "serving our delicious boxed lunches and salads in Downtown Evansville in the former Fresh Harvest Deli location behind the Old Post Office!"

The company says they'll release more information about their grand opening later this week.

Big change for Barry Manilow's Ford Center concert

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- The Ford Center has announced that due to a scheduling conflict, the Barry Manilow concert has been moved from June 20 to June 26.

They say that the tickets from the previously scheduled date will be honored.

Manilow will perform songs from his catalog of hits including "Mandy" and "Copacabana (At the Copa)" on Thursday, June 20.
