Casino Aztar one step closer to becoming Tropicana Evansville | News
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Casino Aztar is getting one step closer to becoming "Tropicana Evansville."
Evansville Redevelopment Commissioners voted Tuesday morning to approve the new "Tropicana" signage.
Under this proposal, 17 of the old Aztar signs will go down and 8 new Tropicana signs will go up.
The new signs are being built by a company in Minnesota, but signs they will be installed by a local company.
The new signs are very recognizable. The new signs will be 3D and have LED lights, unlike the current signs.
Aztar officials say the hotel is also getting a renovation and this is part of the rebranding. Tropicana is a brand more recognizable than Aztar, and they want that to show.
At the ERC Design Committee meeting last week it approved the new signs for Tropicana Evansville. The new signs proposal next goes to the Zoning Board.
