New details expected on new Downtown Evansville hotel

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-

We should know more on Wednesday about the new downtown hotel in Evansville. 

City officials are expecting to receive the next round of information from the developer, and the mayor tells us he expects to have the deal finalized this month.

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- On June 30, Don Schneck, co-author of the book "Cheerio and Best Wishes: Letters from a World War Two Hoosier Pilot," will visit the Evansville Museum to present a look back-in-time at the 1930s and early 1940s.

The lecture will focus on how young people grew up in the rural communities surrounding Evansville, their migration to the "big city," what they did before leaving to go to war and the role the city played in the overall war effort.

The presentation will begin at 2 p.m.

Renovations continue to give Old Post Office a facelift

You might have noticed some construction in the back of the Old Post Office in the last couple of months.

It was in an effort to build a handicap accessible ramp, which is almost complete.

Work to put on a new roof is set to start next week.  Also on the list are new windows, slate and stonework.

Outside renovations should be complete by the end of September.

There's interest in making iconic Greyhound building a restaurant

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-

The iconic Greyhound building in Downtown Evansville may be getting a facelift and it could become the newest hot spot to grab a bite to eat. 

That's exactly what Indiana Landmarks is working to do.

The Greyhound station has sat vacant for about five years now. Indiana Landmarks just recently acquired the building, now they're starting a fundraising campaign. 

That will go in addition to funds the state Indiana Landmarks office has already allocated. 

Young country superstar Hunter Hayes coming to Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- He is young, and he looks even younger, but Hunter Hayes is one of the biggest stars in radio country music right now.

With songs like "Storm Warning," "Wanted," and "Somebody's Heartbreak" his music has climbed to the top of the charts.

Now Hunter has announced he's brining his "Let's Get Crazy" tour to The Centre in Evansville.

The show will be Friday, November 8th at 7 P.M. Seats are $39.50 and $29.50.

Tickets go on-sale Friday, June 21st at 10 A.M., but there is a way you can get them before that.
