A three time convicted murderer and rapist has moved to town, thanks to a program through Volunteers of America.

Evansville Police are baffled why this man was set free. They're not handling his parole, but say everyone on the force and in the community, needs to know who David Lucero is and what he looks like.

Two men were arrested on charges of dealing cocaine after leading Evansville police on a chase through the downtown area early Friday morning.

About 2:30 a.m., an Indiana state trooper tried to stop the driver of a 2007 Pontiac on S.E. 2nd St., near Casino Aztar for not having the vehicle’s license plate illuminated as required by law.

According to a news release, when 21-year-old Carl Taylor, Jr.,  saw the emergency lights, he accelerated south, reachiing Jefferson Ave.

A call from alert neighbors led to an Evansville homeowner confronting a burglar late Wednesday morning.

Police say Joseph Valler, a licensed electrician, was working on a jobsite when neighbors reported a young man they didn't recognize was inside his home.

Valler's wife and two sons, ages 3 and 9, were not home at the time.

Valler, according to a police affidavit, quickly left the jobsite after getting the call, arrived home, grabbed a handgun from his vehicle and entered through the locked front door.

An Evansville man was robbed on his way to Casino Aztar Hotel and Convention Center Saturday night.

The victim told police that he was walking across Riverside Drive around 10:00 p.m.

EPD:  Traffic stop leads to drugs, fugitive

A traffic stop on Riverside Drive led to two arrests over the weekend.

Police on patrol say they noticed a minivan driving strangely.  Police pulled the van over and asked the driver, Cynthia Nordhaus where she was going and who her two passengers were.

Police say Nordhaus couldn't answer their questions and they found crack cocaine, some marijuana and a glass pipe in her purse and pants.
