EPD: Man stabbed, suspect takes brick to head during car theft attempt | Crime

An east side man who says he confronted a man trying to steal his neighbor’s car was stabbed in the chest early Wednesday.
Evansville Police responded to the 600 block of Ravenswood Avenue about 12:30 a.m.
Matthew Stevens told police he saw a black man with dreadlocks, wearing blue pajama pants and a blue long-sleeve shirt trying to steal the vehicle. Stevens told officers he approached the man and was subsequently stabbed in the chest. The injury was minor and Stevens refused medical treatment.
Stevens told officer he was able to hit the suspect in the forehead with a brick during the fight. The suspect ran away and Stevens called 911. Officers were unable to find the suspect.
