A Texas man is facing multiple charges after Indiana State Police say he tried to steal a satellite radio, ran from one trooper and then head butted another.
It happened on Riverside Drive near Scores Nightclub. A trooper on patrol saw two men fighting in the parking lot. Both took off toward the Casino Aztar Hotel but the trooper tackled 29-year-old Luis Jose Garcia of Linn, TX, who resisted arrest and was handcuffed.
The trooper reported that while Garcia was being escorted back to the patrol car he continued to be belligerent and screamed profanities at several people standing outside the nightclub. As Garcia was leaning against the car, the trooper says he head butted another trooper now on scene.
State Police say further investigation revealed Garcia had allegedly broken into a vehicle that was parked in Scores parking lot and stole a satellite radio. A man confronted Garcia after observing him inside his friend’s vehicle. The person had just taken the satellite radio away from Garcia when the trooper pulled into the parking lot.
Garcia is facing several charges:
- Theft, Class D Felony
- Battery on a Police Officer, Class A Misdemeanor
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
- Public Intoxication, Class B Misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct, Class B Misdemeanor
