Back to Jail: EPD says parolee caught swiping copper downspouts from day care

Evansville Police arrested 32 year old Steve Eble on several charges after they say he was caught trying to steal copper downspouts from St. Vincents Day Care at 730 W. Delaware St. during the overnight hours.

Police say they were tipped off by someone who saw Eble climb a fence to get onto the property. Responding officers spotted Eble in the fenced in area.  Police say that’s when Eble tried to run from them, but his escape was foiled when he ran full speed into the fence.  Eble hit the fence with enough force that the fence broke away from the other sections and broke a fence post. Eble fell to the ground and was taken into custody.
