SWIRCA Angel Tree needs Christmas angels

With only a week left to choose a wish, the Angel Tree at SWIRCA & More is greatly in need of area “Angels” to select the remaining needs. There are still over 50 clients that have not been selected and may not get their wishes granted this holiday.

Each year, the SWIRCA & More Angel Tree is hung with ornaments listing the wishes and needs of 200 to 250 Case Management clients we service. Many of the individuals SWIRCA & More provides services to do not always have the means to purchase gifts or other necessities during the holiday season. For this reason, each year the SWIRCA & More Angel Tree gives others within the community a chance to “Be An Angel” to the clients and help them meet a basic need during the holidays.

VP of Social Services, Carolyn Conners states, “This year, more than ever, our clients have wishes and needs during the holidays that they are unable to take care of themselves. Our Angel Tree provides a way for the angels within the community to connect with our clients by meeting a need. Wishes range from clothing and grocery gift cards, to families hoping to find a way to provide a cherished toy for their children.”

Wish ornaments can be chosen from the Angel Tree at the SWIRCA & More Activity Center (16 West Virginia Street) weekdays from 9:00am – 4:00pm until December 13.  Gifts must be returned unwrapped to the Activity Center by December 14th in order to be delivered to the clients before December 25.

The SWIRCA & More Case Management Department services over 1000 clients of all ages that need in-home services to maintain their current quality of life and community-based living as opposed to institutional placement.
