Drumstick Dash set for Saturday morning | Community Spirit
The Evansville Rescue Mission’s first ever Drumstick Dash will kick off Saturday, November 17, at 9 a.m. It will consist of either an 8K mile run/walk or a short course of just 1 mile.
The race will start and finish at its new facility which is what used to be the former Veterans Clinic, located at 500 East Walnut Street in Evansville. Here, the Rescue Mission will be able to complete its homeless service programs and administrative operations all under one roof allowing the Mission to be that much more efficient and cost effective.
The Rescue Mission is expecting to field more than 400 runners and walkers for the first annual Drumstick Dash where participants will have a chance to win a variety of awards and prizes, compete in a Thanksgiving-themed costume contest, choose from a variety of food court options, and be the first large group to participate in a Rescue Mission event on the Rescue Mission’s new property.
Proceeds of the Drumstick Dash will offset the Rescue Mission’s annual Gobbler Gathering, which will be held three days later on Tuesday, November 20 at the Rescue Mission’s future home (500 E. Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47713) where 1,700 Tri-State families will be able to receive a Thanksgiving food basket filled with enough food to last through Thanksgiving.
